Week At A Glance December 9 – 13
I love the celebrations of light that take place during the month of December. If your family celebrates a festival not currently marked on our calendar, please speak to your class teacher about creating the opportunity to share from your heritage and faith.
Our Christmas Concert is tomorrow evening at Highlands United Church. Students from our music program will be sharing on strings and recorders, as well, our choir students will offer songs for you to enjoy. Parents/guardians with children/students in Grades 4-12 were sent a letter last week detailing arrival times and locations as well as dress code requirements. Please review the letter here for a reminder.

Lost and Found
There are a lot of beautiful winter jackets and sweatshirts in the lost and found; isn’t someone missing them? Come now to take a look (outside the Wood Working room). After December 19 they will be sent to Goodwill as the pile grows beyond capacity.
This festival is held by the Grade 2 & 6 classes on Friday morning. Requests for baking should have already been made, please check with your Class Teacher or Class Reps for details.
Grade 3 and 7 have been making a stocking hamper to distribute to the homeless community. Santa Hank will collect the packed stockings on Friday.
Grade 2 Parent Tea
From 2 – 3:00 pm the Grade 2 Parents are invited to a tea in the Grade 2 Classroom hosted by the children. We will process, singing our Lucia song for them and spreading light and good cheer of the season. They may bring finger foods to share, tea will be provided.
Grade 3 will be hosting a bake sale after school on Monday, December 16 as an opportunity to learn about handling and counting money. Bring your loonies and toonies. All proceeds will be donated to the Community Fund which supports the many community initiatives at our school.
Transport Choir Stands & Cello Boards
We are looking for a parent with a larger vehicle who is able to transport our music stands and cello boards to Highlands United Church tomorrow afternoon (any time between 1:00 and 5:00 pm.) Please let me know if you are able to help.
Shepherds’ Play Reception
We are seeking one or two people who are able to shop for and deliver items for the play reception on Thursday, December 19. We have a volunteer who is able to set up and clean up, however, they need support with the shopping ahead of time. Again, please let me know if you have the capacity to do the shop that day. A budget is available to you.
“It is my fervent hope this holiday season that no matter what our spiritual leanings are, that we are all working toward and being the most loving, compassionate people we can be. Our children need that,”… “I hope this holiday season and throughout the year we can all treat each other with respect and dignity We are one in humanity.”
